Trade-locked evolutions

Four Gen 1 Pokémon evolve only by being traded to another game. Without a second cartridge (or a clever workaround), they will sit in your Pokédex as Kadabra, Machoke, Graveler, and Haunter forever.

Alakazam

Machamp

#068 Machamp

fighting
gameshark017ED7CF

From Machoke. Trade your Machoke to a partner. It evolves into Machamp immediately on arrival in their game. · Catch a wild Machoke on Victory Road (Lv 38–40), or evolve Machop (Rock Tunnel, Victory Road) at Lv 28.

Golem

#076 Golem

rockground
gameshark0131D7CF

From Graveler. Trade your Graveler to a partner. It evolves into Golem immediately on arrival in their game. · Catch a wild Graveler on Victory Road (Lv 36–40), or evolve Geodude (Mt. Moon, Rock Tunnel, Victory Road, Cerulean Cave) at Lv 25.

Gengar

#094 Gengar

ghostpoison
gameshark010ED7CF

From Haunter. Trade your Haunter to a partner. It evolves into Gengar immediately on arrival in their game. · Catch a wild Haunter in Pokémon Tower (Lv 20–25) or in Cerulean Cave, or evolve Gastly (Pokémon Tower) at Lv 25.

To achieve a perfect 151 Pokédex, you will also need to trade to get the Eeveelutions you didn't evolve your Eevee into, the Fossil you didn't pick, and the Fighting Dojo Pokémon you didn't pick.
